Truly original Boardwalk Empire x punk wedding

November 12, 2012 · by bellaphonic · in home, le cool

This blog entry is especially for my friends from far and near who have met or heard me talk about my awesome brother John and my (now official!) sister-in-law Stephanie. They got married this past weekend, and being two insanely stylish suckers I knew that there was going to be eye candy for fashion & design. It looked absolutely beautiful and all their own style. Congratulations John, Steph and the coolest of nephews ever, mister Alvin J. WE LOVE YOU ALL!!

Palm Beach food & farmers’ market

Palm Beach food & farmers’ market

February 11, 2012 · by bellaphonic · in food

This local produce market has been one of the highlights of my 2012 Australian holiday so far. My mum has been coming here for years, but after all the times I’ve visited back home, this is the first time I made the effort to go myself. It has made me so envious of the availability of delicious produce. Not only is there fresh local fruits and vegetables, but potted herbs, eggs, at least three different bakeries, flowers, and many stalls just selling the one thing they’ve got – local avocados, mushrooms or tomatoes.

I’ll take the Ellen, thanks Andre…

Wow! I can’t wait until next year when ACT and I visit my family and friends in Australia. If only to stay in one of Andre’s Mews, in Melbourne.

A boutique hotel-apartment-mews in (my old neighborhood) Melbourne’s Richmond, Andre’s Mews not only looks lush, but has a wonderful story behind it’s existence. A few handfuls of individually designed apartments, built by the owner’s daughter over 8 years to fulfill his dream. It’s really worth checking out their ‘About Us’ page and reading the full story. Full of love and character, this place is like something I’d love to create some day.

twenty ten. time to grow up.

January 12, 2010 · by misssclare · in art & design

One of my goals for twenty ten is to do something very adult – I’m going to buy a piece of art for myself. It’s going to have a ltd. edition number on it, something like 10/30. It’s also going to be from Jeremy, the lovely man behind The Jacky Winter Group, which represents Australian illustrators.

I’m a week and a half into my Australian summer christmas holiday. It took a few days to get into the vacation vibe; but now I’m waking early, baking & listening to music, swimming at the beach, napping, hanging with the fam & watching tonnes of movies. Christmas in the sunshine is great!

and the song of the week belongs to Mark Pritchard…

October 21, 2009 · by misssclare · in le cool, music

and the song of the week belongs to Mark Pritchard… and Om’Mas Keith for their ghettotech-meets-space-invaders piece of genius that is ‘wind it up’. I’m about 3 months behind the times – apparently it was released on 20th July this year on hyperdub, but nonetheless, i found it and now I love!

Quite a few years ago my mate Rae Begley and I used to put on a party, named The Party (yes, the Peter Sellers movie… it’s in my all time Top 5) at a little bar in Melbourne, Loop. We…
